There are three educators standing in a row indoors with their hands up cheering as another educator to the left of them is walking by giving high fives. There is another educator in the background clapping her hands.

What is collective leadership?

Collective leadership is the collaborative action of many within a system who by working together effect greater change than individuals acting alone. To make a meaningful and sustainable impact, multiple people must work together across lines of difference and levels of power. Collective leadership takes shape when a diverse group of individuals joins forces to drive changes in policy, practice, and culture.

A teacher is standing in front of her classroom facing her students who are seated at their desks organized in a U formation. They are all pointing at their own heads with both fingers, the children imitating the teacher. There are colorful bulletin boards in the background.

An aerial shot of tens of educators in formalwear standing and looking up outside. Some are on grass and others are on pavement, but they are all surrounding a poster that reads in big, bold letters “REIMAGINING EDUCATION.”

Who we are

Teach For All is a global network of more than 60 independent, locally led organizations united by a commitment to developing collective leadership to ensure all children fulfill their potential. Each network partner recruits and supports promising leaders to teach in their nations’ under-resourced schools and communities. With this foundation, they work with others inside and outside of education towards a world where all children have the education, support, and opportunity to shape a better future.

Teach For All is launching the Global Institute for Transforming Education to catalyze collective, cross-cultural learning about how to develop all students—in particular those in the most marginalized communities—as leaders of a more just, equitable, and sustainable future. Consisting of a virtual academy of courses and workshops, a research lab pioneering participatory approaches to global learning, and this website, a regularly updated online collection of practical resources, the Global Institute will connect and inspire a diverse network of classroom, school, and system leaders around the world
