The Week is a group experience - in-person or online - where participants meet 3 times within one week for 90 minutes (each time: 60 minutes to watch a documentary, and 30 minutes for a guided conversation) to grapple with the reality of the climate crisis, the emotions felt, and arrive at concrete action-taking. Groups are guided through an emotional “U” shaped journey.

By encouraging emotional resilience and action-taking, The Week builds participants’ capacity to inspire the same in others. For example, The Week can empower teachers/educators to engage their students in affirming forms of climate education that foster emotional resilience and agency in their local communities. The Week is explicitly not about expertise on climate change but about collectively grappling with the issues and emotions and building resilience through a group experience.

Note:

  • The Week was initially developed with a North American and European audience in mind with the films focusing on the US, UK, France, and Germany. However, the format should be relevant to all global regions.
  • Signing up and organizing a screening is required; the experience is free if this is organized at home, in school, or with other community groups.
  • For ages 16+ (not appropriate for age below 16)
  • The Week is in English and French. Video subtitles are available in Spanish, German, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Portuguese, Italian, and Polish.
