Fishbanks is a multiplayer web-based simulation in which participants play the role of fishers and seek to maximize their net worth as they co-exist with other players and deal with variations in fish stocks and their catch. It gives a simplified showcase of how and why the actions of self-interested parties in a collective likely lead to the exhaustion of commons, in this case, a fish stock. And it provides a powerful space to discuss the need and difficulty around rules for the collective management of commons.
